  • Emergency Calls

An emergency is any serious medical problem any type of fire, any life-threatening situation or to report crimes in progress.

When on campus callers should dial (804) 289-8911, as dialing 9-1-1 directly may route them to another police agency. If you should be routed to another police department, you need to advise them of your specific location at the University of Richmond so that they may dispatch that information to UR Police.

  • Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers

The University of Richmond Police Department has joined with Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers to better serve the University community. As a Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers partner, anyone that provides us with tips that lead to an arrest may receive up to $1,000 in cash rewards. This is all determined from a chosen board that revisits all tips that lead to arrests and it is their responsibility to provide what amount and to whom the cash rewards go to, not the University of Richmond.

The Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers was established in Richmond in 1984 and has had significant success with citizens providing law enforcement with information that can solve crimes to help protect the property and safety of others in their community. We don’t have to know who you are to know who they are.

When students, staff, or faculty call (804) 780-1000, they will be asked several questions and are assured of their anonymity by being given an identification number. Again, no names are given. Approved rewards are paid out in cash by the identification number. All tips that are called for the University will be submitted only to University Police.

  • Silent Witness Program

If you see crime occurring on campus, including fraud (so-called “white collar” crime), submit details using the Silent Witness form. All information will be kept confidential.
