Off-Campus Concerns

Jurisdiction of Off-Campus Conduct

The University of Richmond cannot monitor the environment external to the University campus. It is an expectation that each individual respect the University’s valuation of personal responsibility and accountability. The University reserves the right to become involved in disputes between students living off campus and neighbors.

These situations may include:

a) Any action that constitutes a criminal offense as defined by federal, Virginia, Henrico or Richmond ordinances. This includes, but not limited to, single or repeat violations.

Local ordinances:

b) Any situation where it appears that the student may present a danger or threat to the health or safety of him/herself or others;

c) Any situation that significantly impinges upon the rights, property, or achievements of self or others, or significantly breaches the peace and/or causes social disorder; and/or

d) Any situation that is detrimental to the educational interests of the University.

The University encourages our community to provide information related to a specific problem by filling out our Off-Campus Community Concern form.

This information will be received by the University Police Department and shared with the following areas:

  • Office of Student Development for the University of Richmond. This Office is responsible for overall student conduct and University judicial processes.
  • College Deans, Joe Boehman and Mia Reinoso Genoni, collegedeans@richmond.edu
  • Henrico County Police Division - Community Policing Unit responsible for building healthy communities through collaboration, innovation, and quality relationships.
