Crime Alert: Attempted Burglary

In compliance with the “Timely Warning” provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the University of Richmond Police Department is providing information about a burglary report.

University Police are investigating an attempted burglary from a room in the 800 block of UR Drive within the University Forest Apartments. Although nothing was taken there was damage to a door caused by an unknown suspect(s). The incident was reported to have happened on April 14th, early in the morning.

Risk reduction:

For your safety, it is important to lock your dorm room or apartment at all times to include checking your sliding glass doors with a lock bar. We also encourage you to report any suspicious situations to University Police.

As we close out the semester, we would like to remind everyone to never leave portable electronics (phone, laptop, I-pad, tablets, etc.) unattended. The number of incidents of theft of these types of electronics is minimal but we did experience a slight increase in this type of theft from study areas at the end of spring semester last year.

Anyone with information about this Burglary or any other crime is asked to contact URPD by either calling (804) 289-8715 or reporting through anonymous resources listed on the webpage below.
