Emergencies
University of Richmond police officers have been trained to respond to critical incidents on campus. When a serious incident occurs, the first responders to the scene are usually the UR Police Department and local fire departments.
In the event of a campus-wide emergency or immediate threat, the University activates its a comprehensive communication system called UR Alert, which sends emergency messages via voice, text, and e-mail to faculty, staff, and students. This system will only be used for emergency communications.
