Communications Center

The University of Richmond Police Department's Communication Center is staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year, to answer your calls. All of our Communications Officers are certified dispatchers through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and are VCIN/NCIC-certified through the Virginia Department of State Police.

The Communications Center is the Primary Safety Services Answering Point (PSAP) for all 911 calls made from campus telephones and emergency response telephones (ERTS phones). In addition to dispatching police officers to help you, we also dispatch UREMS to assist our officers with medical calls, and monitor fire and burglar alarms for all campus buildings.

The Communications Center has direct contact with the Henrico County Communications Center and the Richmond City Division of Emergency Communications to request additional resources, such as an ambulance or fire department, when needed. We also have contact with other departments throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia through the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
